ZQM Labs Docs

Welcome to the documentation hub for ZQM Labs games. This is the front door: how to play, how to host, and where every other ZQM Labs doc site lives.

Start here

  • Playing? How to Play — the whole game on one page: six stops, one phone per team, no app to install.
  • Hosting? The Host Handbook is the complete guide to running a game for your group — choosing a tier, setting up, running the event, and wrapping up.
  • Just curious? Play the free demo of the current game at zqmlabs.com/games/hunt-for-wisps, or run the free sample quest below with your own crew.

The current game: Wisp's Lost Lanterns

Wisp — a small, wandering will-o'-the-wisp — has lost her six glow lanterns, and teams follow the trail to relight them. Wisp's Lost Lanterns is the current ZQM Labs Halloween edition, running October 30 – November 1, 2026:

  • 6 quest stops, each with a QR sign, a location story, and a puzzle
  • 4 Dial levels — Cozy (family, all ages), Spooky (teens+), After Dark (adults), Overdrive (competitive offices) — the same stops play differently per level
  • A hint ladder at every stop (3 hints; the third is the "Ranger assist")
  • Offline-safe player pages that run in the phone browser — no app to install
  • A free 6-stop sample quest, Wisp's Warm-Up, you can read or run in any neighborhood in about 30 minutes — no purchase, no signup

Meet the residents before you play: Z's Zoo is the field guide to the creatures of the quest.

Free sample quest

The sample quest is a complete mini edition of the game, published in the open Quest Packs library. Read it and solve all six stops at the table, or run it for real: pick 6 waypoints, generate printable QR signs with the Organizer Toolkit, set the Dial, and play.

Everything else

All Doc Sites indexes every ZQM Labs documentation site — the organizer toolkit, quest packs, quest authoring, playtests, and the pattern libraries.
